ABSTRACT:
A holographic optical information recording/reproducing device is provided with a laser light source1and a polarizing beam splitter8for splitting a light from the laser light source1. At the time of recording information, one of light beams split by the polarizing beam splitter8is modulated by a spatial light modulating element2to form a beam array, which becomes a signal light25, whereas the other split light beam becomes a reference light22. Interference fringes generated by the signal light25and the reference light22are recorded as holograms in a holographic disc5. At the time of reproducing the information, only the reference light22is irradiated to the holographic disc5and its diffracted light is detected. At this time, the holographic optical information recording/reproducing device makes the power of the reference light22in the holographic disc5for information reproduction larger than a sum of the power of the reference light22and the power of the signal light25in the holographic disc5for information recording.
