ABSTRACT:
There is provided an image forming apparatus including: a photoconductor drum; an intermediate transfer belt that is wrapped around and stretched between the photoconductor drum and a plurality of support rolls and is driven by the photoconductor drum; and a contact member that contacts the intermediate transfer belt, wherein the image forming apparatus satisfies the following expression (1)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?2T(eμθ−1)/(eμθ+1)>Fand T≦396.9 N  (1),in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?wherein μ represents a coefficient of friction between the photoconductor drum and the intermediate transfer belt, T represents an initial tension of the intermediate transfer belt, θ represents a wrap angle of the intermediate transfer belt on the photoconductor drum, and F represents a load in a tangential direction applied from the contact member to the photoconductor drum via the intermediate transfer belt.
