ABSTRACT:
An optical transmission apparatus comprises an optical sender for transmitting a light intensity signal, acquired by direct modulation of light from a single mode semiconductor laser, through optical fibers, an optical amplifier for controlling transmission power through the optical fibers in accordance with a change in the dispersion characteristics of the optical fibers, and an optical receiver, connected via the optical fibers to the optical sender, for receiving the light intensity signal.
