An organic electroluminescent device, which has:at least one organic layer between a pair of electrodes, with at least one layer of the at least one organic layer being a light-emitting layer, andat least one compound that has a structure represented by formula (2), as the compound itself or as its partial structure, in at least one layer of the at least one organic layer: wherein, in formula (2), each of A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A12, A13, A14, A15, and A16represents a nitrogen atom or a carbon atom that may optionally have a substituent, and at least one of A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A12, A13, A14, A15and A16is a nitrogen atom.
