To provide a machine tool in which positioning accuracy of a ram is ensured, realizing improved machining accuracy. A cylindrical ram14supporting a spindle6is inserted in a ram guide hole13aformed in a cross slide13, the ram14has supported surfaces14d, 14din a V-shape formed on a lower side of an outer circumferential surface thereof, and the supported surfaces14dare placed on supporting surfaces22a, 22ain a V-shape formed on an inner circumferential surface of the ram guide hole13aof the cross slide13, so that a Z-axis direction position of the ram14is automatically aligned.
