ABSTRACT:
The known sun tracker system with helical groove guide that works according to the gravity force principle is not operational without the daily intervention of an operator, limits the weight of the solar collectors, given the muscular strength required, and thirdly makes the tracking speed dependent from the ambient temperatures, because of the temperature-dependent viscosity of the driving liquid. The disclosed tracker system has a vertical pipe, a sleeve provided with a helical groove, a guiding element, a power block that carries most of the weight of the solar assembly and rotary mast, a hydraulic energy accumulator linked by a control valve to a regulating cylinder, so that the system can be operated several days independently of outer energy sources, and a thermo- throttle that allows the rotary mast to turn at a tracking speed independent from the ambient temperature. This sun tracker system is very robust, has a relatively low energy consumption even in heavy solar assemblies and is very suitable for large-scale applications.
