The cover3has a two-layered structure including an outer cover layer4and an inner cover layer5.A number of dimples6are formed on the surface of the cover3.The outer cover layer4has a Shore D hardness of from 58 to 72. The golf ball1has an amount of compressive deformation of from 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm when measured with applying an initial load of 10 kgf to a final load of 130 kgf. Percentage of the number of dimples having a contour length of greater than or equal to 11.6 mm occupied in total number of dimples is greater than or equal to 50%.
