ABSTRACT:
There is provided a honeycomb structure1produced by bonding a plurality of honeycomb segments12into one piece via a bonding layer8, each segment12having a number of through-holes3divided from each other by porous partition walls2and extending in the axial direction of the honeycomb segment. The bonding layer8comprises at least one cement layer10and at least one undercoat layer9present between the honeycomb segment12and the cement layer10. There is provided a process for producing a honeycomb structure1, wherein bonding the honeycomb segments12comprises applying at least one layer of an undercoat on each honeycomb segment12, applying at least one layer of a cement, and bonding the honeycomb segments into one piece. The honeycomb structure has a high bonding strength and hardly gives defects such as cracks in bonded portion.
