ABSTRACT:
A spring member31includes side, upper and lower plates32, 33and34and a cut-out portion35on its upper plate33for positioning. The upper and lower plates33and34define an opening. The spring member31receives an assembling member or bezel24and a rear light unit2with the cut-out portion35engaged in an upper plate23of the bezel24and puts them together while a liquid crystal display panel12is held between the bezel24and the light unit2. The upper plate23of the bezel24has a step25for positioning of the spring member31. Due to elasticity of the upper and lower plates33and34of the spring member31, the bezel24and the light unit2are compressively held with a constant distance defined between them by the spring member31. An optical sheet11covers the liquid crystal display panel uniformly. Thus, undulation or crinkles of the sheet11hardly take place on the side of a cold cathode fluorescent lamp7,uneven brightness and distortion of images can be substantially avoided and display dignity is substantially improved.
