A wear plate52for mounting in a wear protecting disposition on a rotor disc50of a pulverizer38includes a body portion64having a radially outer circumferential edge74and a radially inner circumferential edge76, an abutment shoulder72along the one angular edge of the wear plate52, an underlap flange78on the one angular edge of the body portion64, and an overlap rim80on the other angular edge of the body portion64. The underlap flange78is cooperatively configured with respect to an overlap rim80of a respective adjacent wear plate52that is in interengagement with the wear plate52such that the overlap rim80of the respective adjacent wear plate52at least partially overlaps the underlap flange78of the wear plate52.
