Organosilicon compounds containing isocyanate groups and composed of units (Ia)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?Ra(R1O)bXcSiO(4-a-b-c)/2,   (Ia)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?are prepared by heating organosilicon compounds composed of units (Ib)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?Ra(R1O)bYcSiO(4-a-b-c)/2,   (Ib)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?whereX is an SiC- or SiOC-bonded radical of the formula (IIa)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?—(O)g—Z—NCO,   (IIa)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?Y is an SiC- or SiOC-bonded radical of the formula (IIb)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?—(O)g—Z—NH—C(O)OR2(IIb),in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?g is 0 or 1, Z is a hydrocarbon spacer, R, R1and R2are optionally substituted hydrocarbon radicals, with the proviso that the organosilicon compounds of formula (Ib) possess a halide content of not more than 10,000 ppm by weight.
