ABSTRACT:
Mixtures of hydrogen with oxides of carbon, preferably with carbon monoxide, are converted to hydrocarbons at temperatures below about 500.degree. C. by contact with a fused alkali metal formate or hydroxide or mixtures thereof which contains a hydrogenation catalyst of a transition metal or a compound of a transition metal or mixture of the same.
