There are provided aromatic heterocyclic polymers having repeating units of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is --H or R.sub.2 is ##STR2## R.sub.3 is ##STR3## and R.sub.4 is R.sub.2 or ##STR4## and B is ##STR5## wherein X is --S--, --O--, or --NH--.
