ABSTRACT:
Terpolymer emulsions comprising (1) an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid (2) an alkyl ester of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (3) an amide of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid or styrene or a derivative thereof of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl are useful as thickening agents, particularly in butadiene-styrene latices.
