ABSTRACT:
A circuit includes a transformer7for transmitting power to a discharge lamp10and for supplying a starting signal to the discharge lamp. The circuit includes a direct current-alternating current converting circuit3for supplying an output of the transformer7to the discharge lamp10after carrying out a direct current-alternating current conversion, and a starting circuit4for applying the starting signal to the discharge lamp10.A primary side of the transformer7has a first capacitor11,a circuit portion13including a rectifying element, and a switching element14. The transformer7has an auxiliary winding7vfor supplying a voltage for generating the starting signal to the starting circuit. A second capacitor12is interposed between the auxiliary winding and the circuit portion13and prevents absorption of energy by the capacitor11in generating the starting signal and prevents attenuation of the starting signal.
