An inventory management method for managing an inventory of goods for a plurality of demand groups with each demand group having at least one service quality, the method includes determining a total safety stock level for the plurality of demand groups that satisfies the distinct service quality of each demand group, determining a shipment limit Zifor each demand group Gi, wherein goods are shipped for a demand group Gionly if the inventory of goods for the demand group Giexceeds the shipment limit Zi. Also disclosed is a computer program product and a method for an inventory management service.
