An image reader A1according to the present invention comprises a pair of light source devices3, a light guide member4, a first and a second reflectors7A and7B, a plurality of light receiving elements5, and a case1. The image reader A1further includes a first fitting contrivance71for positioning the first reflector7A relative to the case1by inserting the first reflector7A into the case1in the insertion direction z, a second fitting contrivance72for positioning the light guide member4relative to the case1by inserting the light guide member4into the case1in the insertion direction z, and a third fitting contrivance73for positioning the second reflector7B relative to the case1by inserting the second reflector7B into the case1in the insertion direction z.
