ABSTRACT:
A focal plane shutter for a video camera has a pair of disks rotated in the same direction about a common axis in synchronism with the raster scan blanking interval, at a nominal rotational rate of 3600 rpm. The disks each have a single opening which overlie one another to define a single light admitting shutter aperture positioned to illuminate the video pickup once per revolution. Stop action or slow motion studies are greatly improved by the increase in shutter speed resulting from this single aperture shutter.
