ABSTRACT:
Chloro(diphenyl)phosphine, (C.sub.6 H.sub.5).sub.2 PCl, is prepared by reaction of diphenylphosphinic acid chloride with triphenylphosphine at temperatures between about 300.degree. and about 600.degree. C. The initial P-O compound undergoes deoxygenation during the reaction.
The product of the process is useful as an intermediate in various specialized areas such as the plant-protection and polymer sectors.
