ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to a process for producing a quality-improved water-absorbent polymer in which the aqueous liquid (I), which is obtained by mixing in an aqueous medium at least one kind of a water-soluble salt (A) selected from a group of halogenated compounds, sulfates, acetates, and nitrates, which are derived from at least one kind of a polyvalent metal selected from a group of aluminum, calcium, and magnesium, with at least one kind of a water-soluble salt (B) selected from a group of monovalent metal salts and ammonium salts, which are derived from at least one kind of an oxyacid selected from a group of sulfurous acid and thiosulfuric acid, is mixed with a water-absorbent polymer (II) in a proportion of that the water-soluble salt of the polyvalent metal (A) is in a range of 0.1.about.10 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of the water-absorbent polymer (II) and the water-soluble salt of the oxyacid (B) is in a range of 0. 1.about.10 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of the water-absorbent polymer (II). The mixture which is obtained by mixing the aqueous liquid (I) with the water-absorbent polymer (II) has relatively-improved capacities in the fluidity and the amount of residual monomers. This invention displays a more sufficient effect by compulsorily bringing the mixture into contact with an oxygen-containing gas.
