ABSTRACT:
A recording and reproducing disc driving apparatus has a main base which has seat portions for supporting a head, a carriage, first and second motors and a sensor and has at least one cut portion, and a sub-base for fixedly mounting the main base and having a dimension of the top surface which is the same as that of a given rectangular configuration of the driving apparatus. The at least one cut portion is formed by cutting a portion of the main base which does not contribute to support structual elements such as motors so that the top surface of the main base is smaller than that of the given rectangular configuration of the apparatus.
