An optical fibre splice assembly having a pair of spigots and a sleeve, the sleeve having an internal bore of dimension large enough to permit retraction of the sleeve over at least one of the spigots, each spigot having a bore to accomodate an optical fibre adapted to be secured to an optical fibre cable through its coverings.
