ABSTRACT:
An indirect room lighting system has a diffuse reflecting upper band around the walls about 15 to 24 inches high. A luminaire illuminates this diffuse reflecting band with a beam of light having a radiation pattern broad horizontally and narrow vertically confined essentially to the region of the diffuse reflecting upper bands. The reflector of the luminaire may be positioned at a 45.degree. angle to the walls in the corner, intersecting in the corner, or in the center of the room comprising a Fresnel cylindrical lens, or it may take other forms.
