An improved process for the polymerization of fluoromonomers to fluoropolymers which comprises using as a chain transfer agent the compound Y(CF.sub.2).sub.m CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 I, wherein m is 3 to 12, and Y is F or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 I.
