ABSTRACT:
Self-emulsified polyurethane or polyurethane-polyurea or polyurea latices formed by reacting an aromatic polyisocyanate such as a polyurethane prepolymer with a strong sulfonating agent selected from H.sub.2 SO.sub.4, SO.sub.3, ClSO.sub.3 H, and mixtures thereof, converting the sulfonated polyisocyanate to a sulfonic acid salt by reaction with a base, and mixing the polyisocyanate in water to obtain chain extension and self-emulsification thereof.
