ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a new process for the preparation of 5-hydroxy-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-pyrimidine derivatives of the general formula (I) ##STR1## in which R represents optionally substituted alkyl,
which is characterized in that amidines of the general formula (II), ##STR2## in which R has the abovementioned meaning,
are reacted with epichlorohydrin of the formula (III) ##STR3## if appropriate in the presence of a diluent at temperatures between 0.degree. C. and 150.degree. C.
