ABSTRACT:
A solid golf ball having high rebound characteristics and being superior in flight performance, durability, controllability, and shot feel which comprises a core and a cover covering the core, wherein the core has a diameter of 32.7 to 38.4 mm and a change of deformation, formed by applying to the core an initial load of 10 kg to a final load of 130 kg, of 3.5 to 6.5 mm, the cover consists of an inner layer and an outer layer in which the inner layer has a stiffness modulus of 3,500 to 6,000 kgf/cm.sup.2 and a thickness of 1.1 to 2.5 mm and the outer layer has a stiffness modulus of 3,000 to 5,500 kgf/cm.sup.2, which is at least 500 kgf/cm.sup.2 lower than that of the inner layer, and a thickness of 1.1 to 2.5 mm, and both the inner layer and outer layer are made of a resinous composition compound mainly of an ionomer resin.
