ABSTRACT:
In a photothermographic element comprising a photosensitive emulsion layer containing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, photosensitive silver halide grains, and a binder, (1) the coating weight (silver g/m.sup.2) of the non-photosensitive organic silver salt divided by the thickness of the photosensitive emulsion layer is 0.09-0.30 g/(m.sup.2 .multidot..mu.m), (2) the coating weight calculated as silver of the non-photosensitive organic silver salt divided by the number of photosensitive silver halide grains is 1.times.10.sup.-15 -1.times.10.sup.-14 g/grain, and (3) the silver halide grains have a mean equivalent spherical diameter of 10-50 nm. The element is improved in graininess, covering power and silver tone.
