ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a process for producing a polymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, the process comprising polymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof in a water-soluble organic solvent-water mixture in the presence of at least one polymerization catalyst selected from the group consisting of a metal compound of the formula
