ABSTRACT:
Color television transmission or information storage system, respectively using time-division multiplex coding. A signal source is coupled via an encoding circuit for time-division multiplex coding to a transmission or storage channel, respectively, to which a data receiver incorporating a decoding circuit is connected. During a field period of the time-division multiplex encoded signal a first linear combination of the luminance information components of two consecutive lines of a field of the signal from the signal source and the luminance information components of two consecutive lines of the subsequent field of said signal which, on display, substantially coincide with the first-mentioned lines, is conveyed. During the subsequent field period of the time-division multiplex encoded signal a similar, second linear combination differing from the first combination is conveyed. The time ratio for signal compression or expansion, respectively of the first linear combination differs from the corresponding ratio of the second linear combination.
