ABSTRACT:
Provided is a silver halide photographic material excellent in discrimination, which comprises on a support at least one compound represented by formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, with the proviso that the sum of the Hammett substituent constants .sigma..sub.p values of R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 is 0 or more; and R.sub.5 to R.sub.9 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent and at least one of R.sub.5 and R.sub.9 is a substituent, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, or R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 may combine with each other to form a ring.
