ABSTRACT:
A silver halide emulsion is described, which comprises at least a dispersion medium and silver halide grains, wherein from 40 to 100% of the total projected area of the entire silver halide grains are occupied by tabular grains having a thickness of from 0.01 to 0.50 .mu.m, an aspect ratio (diameter/thickness) of from 1.6 to 500, and main planes of {100} faces, and the aspect ratio of a right angled parallelogram surrounded by edge sides of {100} face of the tabular grains or a right angled parallelogram formed by extending the edge sides (long side length/short side length) is from 1 to 8, and the tabular grains are tabular grains formed by the adsorption of compound A.sup.0 represented by formula (Z.sup.1), (Z.sup.2), (Z.sup.3) or (Z.sup.4) onto silver halide grains:
