ABSTRACT:
Amidines of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl groups and the sum of the carbons in R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is from 2 to 16 are produced by cyanoethylation of the lactam: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined above, followed by reduction and, finally, cyclization by dehydration. The compounds produced are useful for curing epoxy and urethane resins.
