ABSTRACT:
Enlargement of a crystal of a bulk oxide superconductor of REBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7-x, wherein RE is at least one of Y and rare earth elements, is effected by three dimensionally arranging layers of REBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7-x with a different RE in the order of decreasing (123) phase formation temperatures from the center outward, or by forming a stack of layers of RE Ba.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7-x with a different RE in the order of decreasing (123) phase formation temperatures; the size of the layer being enlarged along with a decrease in the (123) phase formation temperature.
