ABSTRACT:
An electric double layer capacitor having a non-aqueous electrolyte impregnated to a capacitor element having a separator placed between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, each being a carbonaceous electrode, wherein the separator includes a plurality of sheets, and at least one of the plurality of sheets is a cellulose paper having a thickness of from 20 to 60 .mu.m and a density of from 0.30 to 0.55 g/cm.sup.3.
