Novel benzoxazines of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Q represents ##STR2## X represents hydrogen or fluorine; and R represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cyclopropylmethyl, cyanoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or alkylthioalkyl;
the use of the new compounds as herbicides, and novel compounds of the formula (IX) as intermediates ##STR3## wherein Y represents hydrogen, nitro, or amino;
