ABSTRACT:
A heat resistant sulfur-modified polychloroprene copolymer of 2-chloro-1,3-butadiene and 2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene characterized in that said polychloroprene has a Mooney viscosity ML 1+4' (100.degree. C.) of from about 25-75, contains from about 3-25% by weight of units derived from 2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene, and of the units derived from 2-chloro-1,3-butadiene, 92-96% by weight of said units have a 1,4-trans configuration, said polychloroprene copolymer being curable with 4 parts MgO and 5 parts ZnO per 100 parts of copolymer at about 160.degree. C. for 30 minutes to yield a vulcanizate having a tensile strength of at least 10 MPa.
