ABSTRACT:
Lens forceps and method of use thereof for extractive removal from the interior of an eye through a corneal incision of a surgically severed segmental lens fragment, the forceps contemplating a manually manipulatable eye lens size clamp of two relatively longitudinally movable parts, including a scoop part having a handle provided with a crescent shaped scoop extending therefrom and defining an upwardly open receiving trough of conforming size and shape to the profile of such a fragment for receiving the fragment therein, and a cover part having a handle provided with a cover extending therefrom, the parts being arranged for manually controlled relative longitudinal movement therebetween and, in one position of such movement, for manually controlled removable stationary engagement of the handles and corresponding positioning of the cover over the scoop to form therewith a cage to retain the fragment for permitting removal thereof from the eye through the corneal incision.
