ABSTRACT:
A process is disclosed for the rapid transformation of numerical or analog data wherein an ordered pair of real numbers (a.sub.i , a.sub.j) is biunequivocally associated with the ordered pair of two real numbers (m, D), where m is equal to the smaller of the numbers a.sub.i and a.sub.j and D is equal to the alegebraic difference a.sub.i - a.sub.j. The inverse process is also disclosed wherein the ordered pair of real numbers (m, D) is associated with the ordered pair of real numbers (a.sub.i, a.sub.j), where a.sub. i is equal to the sum m + D and a.sub.j is equal to m, when D is positive, and where a.sub.i is equal to m and a.sub.j is equal to the alegebraic differences M - D, when D is negative or zero.
