ABSTRACT:
A new method for preparing cytosine arabinoside involving the cyanovinylation of the aminooxazoline of D-arabinose by cis-.beta.-[trimethylammonium]-acrylonitrile tosylate. Also included are new preparations of the aminooxazoline of D-arabinose and the anion of cis-1-cyano-2-hydroxyethylene.
