ABSTRACT:
A system is for use in a non-mechanical electromagnetic scanning device having a source of pulsed beams of electromagnetic energy including laser beams or the like, and a modulator for an array of pulsed beams produced by the system. The system is comprised of first and second opposed mirrors and/or lenses disposed in spaced relationship with one of the mirrors and/or lenses being less than wholly reflective, the arrangement being such as; at each pass between the mirrors and/or lenses; to offset a pulsed beam directed onto one of the mirrors and/or lenses and reflected towards the other mirror and/or lens so as to result in a plurality of successive passes of pulsed beam, a portion of the beam emerging at each pass through the second mirror or lens to form an array of pulsed beams, the beam being refocused at each pass in each direction between the mirrors and/or lenses.
