ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of a 2-cyanamino-4,6-dialkoxy-1,3,5-triazine of the formula ##STR1## in which R represents alkoxy, comprising reacting 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine with cyanamide under alkaline conditions thereby to produce a 2-cyanamino-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1 represents an alkali metal ion, reacting the 2-cyanamino-4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine with at least twice the molar amount of an alcoholate of the formula
