ABSTRACT:
A silver halide photographic material is disclosed which contains at least one methine dye represented by the following formula (I) or (II): ##STR1## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 each represents an atomic group for forming a five-membered or six-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 each represents an alkyl group; R.sub.3 and R.sub.6 each represents an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; V.sub.1 to V.sub.12 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; L.sub.1 to L.sub.10 each represents a methine group; M.sub.1 and M.sub.2 each represents an ion for neutralizing charge; m.sub.1 and m.sub.2 each represents a number of 0 or more which is required for neutralizing charge; and n.sub.1 and n.sub.2 each represents 0 or 1.
