ABSTRACT:
Electroerosion machining is accomplished by making and breaking a series circuit between a direct current power supply, an electrode and a workpiece as quickly as possible with a minimum loss of energy at a predetermined but variable frequency in accordance with the invention. The condition of the machining gap between the electrode and workpiece is monitored during each machining cycle and the making of the series circuit is inhibited on sensing a voltage between the electrode and workpiece below a predetermined minimum voltage at the time of breaking of the circuit in the previous machining cycle. Subsequently, the voltage across the machining gap is monitored at intervals increasing in time to a maximum interval, and the continued making and breaking of the series circuit is permitted only after the voltage between the electrode and workpiece is found to be a proper machining voltage.
