ABSTRACT:
Vehicle lighting system consisting of a vehicle with an integral light source powered either internally by an on-board energy source such as a rechargeable capacitor or a battery. In another embodiment the light source may be powered by an external energy source such as electrical conductors that may be integral with a track. The light source in the vehicle interacts with features on the track. The track acts as a light reflecting and emitting medium so that it accepts the light transmitted from the vehicle, redirects the light rays and emits the light rays in the direction desired. These light rays can be continuous in nature and output or can be discontinuous. The discontinuous feature gives the impression of a pulsing light and this pulsing light is proportional to the vehicle's speed. This particular lighting system and track interaction can be used for children's toys or even larger full scale vehicle systems where it might be desirable to actually be able to track the vehicle and determine the speed of the vehicle from an outside observer.
