ABSTRACT:
Ketazines having the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 represents (i) an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or (ii) a phenyl group optionally substituted with an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a halogen group, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together with the carbon atom to which they are both bonded may form a ring, are advantageously manufactured by reacting an aliphatic or aromatic ketone having the formula (II) ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined above, with ammonia and a peroxide compound or compounds in the presence of amorphous silica or palladium compounds, as a catalyst, at a temperature of from 0.degree. to 120.degree. C., in a liquid phase.
