ABSTRACT:
The use of BODIPY.RTM. fluorophores for detecting a target nucleic acid is described. The parent heterocyclic molecule of the BODIPY.RTM. fluorophores is a dipyrrometheneboron difluoride compound which is modified to create a broad class of spectrally-discriminating fluorophores. The present invention provides oligonucleotides labelled with substituted 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3A,4A-diaza-s-indacene (BODIPY.RTM. fluorophore) compounds for performing the Taqman assay.
