This invention encompasses orally effective antiulcer agents of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is hydroxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.5)-alkoxy, phenoxy, benzyloxy, or --NH(CH.sub.2).sub.n Y wherein n is an integer of value 2 to 4 and Y is di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)-alkylamino, 1-pyrrolidinyl, 1-piperidinyl or 4-morpholinyl;
