A scanning optical apparatus includes a light source, a first optical system for converting a light beam emitted from the light source into a focused beam, a deflector for deflecting the light beam emerging from the first optical system, and a second optical system for imaging the light beam deflected by the deflector into a spot image on a surface to be scanned.
