ABSTRACT:
Apparatus for processing individual rolls of self-developing type transparency film. The apparatus is constructed to receive a film processing kit of the type including a two section housing which encloses a roller having a length of sheet material wound thereon, a container of processing liquid and a processing liquid dispenser. The apparatus also includes structure for supporting a film cassette containing an exposed roll of film wound upon a spool, a take-up roller upon which a laminate consisting of a coating of processing liquid sandwiched between the sheet material and the film is adapted to be wound for a period of time sufficient to form visible images in the laminate, and a rack which is adapted to be driven into a film processing position. During such movement, the rack moves one of the sections of the housing to enable a roller to enter the housing and rupture the container of processing liquid, moves a lock into latching engagement with a loading door, and assures that a subsequent power input is directed solely to the take-up roller. After the processing is completed, movement of the rack out of the processing position is effective to close the kit, unlock the loading door, and direct any subsequent power input to the aforementioned sheet material roller and film spool so as to rotate them in a manner which rewinds the sheet material and the film upon their respective supports while simultaneously stripping the film, which preferably contains the visible images, from the sheet material.
